Who (or what) is Rootweaver?
Jera Babylon Rootweaver is my spirit name, and the name I work & write under. Jera - being one of the Elder Futhark (Nordic) Runes meaning a harvest period, Babylon being a link to my interest in the ancient Sumerian & Babylonian cultures. And Rootweaver is a word I coined whilst trying to find a way to describe what I do; namely weave many different disciplines and philosophies to find my own way, my own interpretation and experience within this wonderful world of magic, mystery, self-mastery and manifestation. Rootweaver therefore is more of a 'title' that I have adopted, rather than a name per se. I refer to my craft as Rootweaving.

Amongst the many wondrous things that I surround myself with, I love and LIVE tarot. It is an ever expanding adventure, never static, always active and changing. Forever pushing the boundaries and challenging me. So, even though I have been reading and interpreting tarot for 14 years, I still consider myself a novice at this craft, albeit a reasonably skilled and professional novice. You might like to tune in on Akasha Temple Live (Blogtalk Radio) to hear my weekly talks on tarot. I call my segment Tarotelic™.
I am a published poet, although I have not written much for several years. I do have dreams and plans to write verses in honour of the major arcana sometime in the future. Some of my poetry can be viewed here.
More than a decade ago I obtained my Reiki Master's degree which was where I started learning about consciously working with energies. Soon after that I joined my first coven where I studied and practiced Witchcraft. In 2005 I studied the sacred (and secret) art of numbers, Numerology.
More recently I discovered that I am a conscious channel. I am currently working on a project with my spirit guides through whom I have managed to channel chapters of enlightened reading material. The working title of this book is "Channeling Orion."
Like many other tarot enthusiasts, I too have dreams of someday creating my own tarot deck, as well as an oracle deck of magical plants. I do have very specific ideas regarding the creation of my tarot deck, in fact several decks... I am currently in the process of manifesting the required resources to act on these inspirations. Watch this space!
Last, but certainly not least, I am wife to the most loving and wonderful man ever created. A truly remarkable human being... He is my rock, my inspiration, my purpose and my muse. He gives me the emotional security and courage that I need to explore my creativity without fear of failure or judgement. In many ways he simply is not of this world... Proudly I am a mother to three (2 adult and 1 adolescent) children. A beautiful daughter, and two dashingly handsome sons.
After immigrating to Australia (from South Africa) 3 years ago, I am well on my way towards becoming a new Australian citizen with only one year to go before we become eligible! I feel great love for my new home country, and a deep sense of loyalty and patriotism. I absolutely adore Australia with her rustic pleasures and charms. It is with pride and joy that I hope to contribute in a positive way to the growing spiritual & tarot movement in my new home country.
Indeed, I live a charmed and lucky life... I want for nothing, and I am filled with the deepest gratitude for my blessings.
Feel free to contact me, I would love to read your cards, or just connect - one soul to another.
